Ecton 016Today we are at Ecton Brook Primary School and what a delight!

Joined by Bellinge Primary School, Rectory Farm Primary School, Lings Primary amd Standens Barn Primary School all from here near Northampton.

A truly delightful day full of laughter galore.

Thank you all for a great time.

Had an interesting chat with some folk about how, sometimes, in the games we use to stimulate writing and discussion, we don’t know what we are supposed to be doing. In chess, we know the rules of the game, and it is how we use the rules rather than bend them, that help us win the game. In these virtual worlds there are no rules and no obvious aim. It is more a case of travelling and picking up pieces of information and concepts that we can apply at a later stage, maybe to solve a problem and even enter a new world.

I like Chess, though.

A group of chess enthusiasts checked into our hotel, and were standing in the lobby discussing their recent tournament victories.

After an hour, the manager came out of the office and asked them to disperse.

Screenshot 081“But why?” they asked, as they moved off.

“Because,” he said, “I can’t stand chess nuts boasting in an open foyer.”

Then again, the other night, we were having dinner with Garry Kasporov – Problem was, we had a checkered tablecloth and it took him two hours to pass the salt!

I look forward to hours of satisfying new moves now… with an on-line, simple version of the game HERE.

Wow. What an amazing, dynamic, inspiring, motivating, informative and educational day we have just had with Tim and Sarah. 80 teachers, support staff and governors were wowed for a day with fun, laughter, hands-on learning and new experiences. This was a refreshing reminder thatlearning can and should be fun for both teachers and learners, and the ‘buzz’ was evident as staff left us at the end of the day talking about what new things they were going to try on Monday morning. Fantastic.

I had a brilliant training day. Whilst I learnt lots of new things, I also come away with many ideas to try out in the classroom. Tim and Sarah’s ideas reflect what teaching and learning should be about and I am really motivated for the new school year. Thankyou.

    Evening Tim

Thank you for a truly inspiring and fun day today.

Can I suggest that any schools that organise a day like today encourage their school governors to join in.

I am really looking forward to joining in a lesson in our school in the very near future and exploring Myst in greater detail.

    Hi Tim and Sarah

Can’t believe the first week of term is over already. Just wanted to say massive thanks for the fantastic training day it was full of ideas many of which I have used in my ICT lessons, the children particularly like the hat, we have used this to see who gets a turn on the laptops. Today with Year 5 & 6 we have been looking at blogs so had a look at your page and are pleased to say we have now set up our own blog page.
