penyrenglynFollowing the launch day of The Oracy Into Writing Project at Rhondda Heritage Park on the 18th November, we were invited today to Penyrenglyn Community Primary School in Treherbert, Rhondda Cynon Taff, to work with the pupils and staff, and visiting colleagues from Parc Primary, Cefn Primary School, Darran Park  Primary, Blaengwawr Primary, Llwynypia Primary,  Glynhafod Junior, Cwmaman Infants,  Oaklands Primary,  Pentre Primary, Penygraig Junior, Trallwng Infants and Tylorstown Primary.

All of the pupils responded incredibly well, especially as they were joined by so many folk from the visiting schools AND  a film crew. We were joined by a crew from Tantrwm. Andrew Chainey and Stephen Hanks were asked to document the ideas that we were rolling out across the primary schools in this cluster of schools and the authority. This will then be included in a film to be available across Wales. The Year 4 pupils ….

And the Year 2 pupils …

Tantrwm specialise in high quality, fast turnaround film and multimedia creations. Sometimes they create these videos for young people. On other occasions, they help young people create films themselves. As well as this project, Tantrwm are working on many other films and on line learning resources, such as the excellent short films for AZClimbing and AZBushcraft.

The Year 6 pupils ….

A very special thank you to Eiluned Davies, the nursey class teacher at school for agreeing to be interviewed by the team today.

A big THANK YOU, again, to Mark Carrington, head teacher of Penyrenglyn Community Primary School, for coordinating yet another very well organised event. We will be visiting the area again in 2010 to extend the project further across the authority.
