I’m ICT Co-ordinator for Cadoxton Primary School.
We met last November when you spent two days at our school modelling how to use Myst to inspire boys to write and sharing many other inspirational ideas of using ICT to inspire teaching and learning. (Read about the two days HERE and HERE.)
I thought it would be good for you to know that we have used many of your ideas and have seen a great improvement in the writing standards of both boys and girls in our school, over the past year.
Your ideas, such as using PC Games, Panoramas.dk, Wordle, podcasting etc. etc., have really inspired many of the teachers in Cadoxton to use ICT across the curriculum.
Teachers are now more confident to use ICT to teach many different subjects and topics. Most importantly, they are willing to have a go at using new technology in their lessons.
We have also noticed that the pupils are much more engaged and on task during lesson time, particularly when we are using PC Games, Nintendo Wii and making videos and podcasts.
Last July we were fortunate to be awarded the ICT Quality Mark.
Throughout the Inspection for the Award we demonstrated many of the methods we had learnt from your two day course, and those you have highlighted in your many blog posts. We received a very complimentary report and are really pleased and proud of the standard we have achieved in using ICT to improve our teaching and learning.
In addition, we were asked to deliver a presentation on using PC Games and the Wii for teaching at an ICT co-ordinators sharing good practice conference last July. Our presentation showed how we used your methods and ideas to teach, and gave examples of children’s work.
I would like to thank you once again for a truly inspirational two days.
Regards, Valerie Barrow, ICT Co-ordinator, Cadoxton Primary School, Barry, Wales
