ICT For Education Magazine Conference – Belfast

| March 11, 2011 | 3 Comments

A brief visit to Belfast for the ICT For Education Magazine Conference at the Belfast Hilton.

This conference is the first in a string of events throughout the year that will visit Bristol, Cardiff, Brighton, London, Newcastle, Manchester, and Birmingham.

There was a raft of great speakers in an really interesting two stream day.

Thank you to  Sarah Underwood, the new editor for ICT For Education, and events organiser Antony Bebbington, for organising our visit.

All of the events in the upcoming series, as today, are free to attend. You can also always read free copies of the ICT for Education Magazines, online, or download free pdf copies too. I have to say, I think they are really interesting, practical, inspiring read.

Have a look at the latest edition of the magazine here:

Thank you to Seamus Coyle, Principal at Termoncanice Primary School, in Limavady, who we visited back in August 2008, for recording his thoughts on the conference:

Being a Principal of a Primary school brings many challenges and joys. I received an email about yet another conference and was close to binning it when I saw a name on the programme which sent me to rapid reply mode – I have to be there! I saw Tim Rylands a number of years ago at a SETT conference in Glasgow and was completely bowled over. This encounter proved even more inspirational. His enthusiasm and delivery make you wonder how an hour long presentation can seem like a blink! His work is child focused and really gets to the heart of Literacy through ICT. The examples given are lively, so creative and yet well within the capabilities of even the ICT unsure. The whole experience is that of watching an excellent teacher at work, making learning fun.

A visit from Tim to N. Ireland for a couple of weeks to actively inspire teachers should be an essential part of the ICT strategy. Conferences for teachers!

Thank you Seamus, and carry on your own, remarkable creativity.

    Hi Tim
What a super presentation you did today at a time that is normally the graveyard slot! You kept us all awake and laughing. Brilliant thank you!

  2. Hi Tim,
It was such a good feeling to go to a conference and hear a speaker like you that really intrigued me. A presentation that held my attention for every possible second and left me not wanting to get up off my seat and go home – just like you do after a good film! Very entertaining with SO MANY exciting take-aways! Many thanks.
