The BBC’s Children at War + Churchill & The Great Republic
An established resource, that came back to our attention today, is the BBC Children at War, an engaging introduction to life during World War 2.
Explore areas such as the world at war, children at war, evacuation, air raids – and the Blitz, wartime homes, daily life, food and shopping, growing up in wartime, the war effort and the end of the war.
Match this with a trip to the interactive exhibition on Churchill, by The Library of Congress, & see how a “special relationship” grew between two nations.
This online exhibition examines Winston S. Churchill’s life-long relationship with the United States of America–the nation he called “the Great Republic.” It reflects in his own words his thoughts on the land, people, and institutions of the country that (not many remember this) was the birthplace of his mother, Jennie Jerome.
As well as our events, we like to share interesting, and more often than not, FREE tools, resources and ideas, some old, some new, and we hope you might find something useful. We'd love your thoughts. Tim & Sarah
