Castledown Primary School, Hastings, East Sussex, Day 2

| September 6, 2012 | 2 Comments

After a truly enjoyable day, yesterday, with the staff of Castledown Primary School, it was with a skip in our step (well Sarah’s. Tim did his, somewhat clumsy, version of skipping and raised many a giggle from around the school) and a big smile on our faces, that we headed back today, to explore, and do some virtual travelling, with the children too.

Wandering in the world of words. or, most importantly, standing still, in glorious, immersive, virtual worlds, is a joy.

To start a new school year in this way felt special. The children from years 1,2,3,4,5, and 6 joined us at different times, and in different locations.

This is what it is all about. The practical application of many of the ideas we shared on day one. Thank you all.

You’re having a 2 day training session on ‘IT in the classroom’ I was told at the end of the Summer term, to be held on the first day back to school in September! Oh joyous I thought, just what I don’t need. BUT, Oh my goodness, was I wrong! We have just had the best inset days ever.Tim’s energy and infectious enthusiasm was inspiring. I watched a master in his craft at work and it was a privilege to sit there soaking up his ideas and immersing myself in his imaginary worlds. If you have ever doubted how computer games/images could possibly enhance a child’s imagination and creativity then this awesome man is someone to see. Thankyou Tim and Sarah, I am definitely a fan.
