Reflections of an Infant Head
We work across all age groups: “from the little snotty ones, to the big spotty ones”.
It is lovely to receive these thoughtful reflections, from Linda Lee, headteacher at Petersfield Infants School, the school we had the pleasure to work with on Monday.
The day we spent with Tim and Sarah was amazing and really thought provoking. Tim led two sessions in the morning firstly with two Y2 classes and then with two Y1 classes. Most people would not have coped with sixty children at a time but no problem for Tim! He took the children on a magical journey through a cave and up a spiral staircase (or was it a staircase!), all the while pulling up exciting vocabulary and an abundance of awe and wonder.
He has a natural talent to motivate and draw the children in and with his ICT input, he whisked the children off to a magical place, ably supported by Sarah. His use of simple props and a variety of strategies kept the children in a state of eager anticipation throughout the sessions. He uses his voice, facial expressions and his movements superbly to complement his ICT programs.
I would like to bottle him and clone him! Ofsted would love him! We will now try to recreate these skills I the classroom.
The afternoon was spent with Tim and Sarah exploring further staff and pupil development ideas and we were all left buzzing at the end of it!
As a school, keen to motivate boys to write more creatively and keen to develop our speaking and listening, we now have a wealth of excellent ideas to build on.
Thank you Tim and Sarah for a brilliant experience.
