Lyndon Green Junior School , Birmingham – Day 2

| January 8, 2013 | 1 Comment

Our second day at Lyndon Green Junior School, Birmingham, and what fun we had! The staff, and children of the school were definitely up for a challenge. As is our way, we took some time to stand and contemplate, but also explored the virtual worlds through talk and writing, sometimes at speed, creating some stunning pieces of flowing descriptive narrative.

This is a school who are already flying with ideas for inspiring their children to achieve the best, and it is always a delight to watch how people are up to take things even further. Well done all.

We started the day with 60 Year 6 pupils and they shone, in some really imaginative ways. Blooms Revised Taxonomy, different forms of questioning, and interviewer’s inquisitions, didn’t phase them in the slightest. Joyous.

In the afternoon we had the pleasure of spending time with two classes of Year 3 pupils. They showed that, even on the afternoon of the first day back after the Christmas holiday, they have thoughts and ideas, ways of playing with words, that bring images alive. Well done all, for picking up words and juggling with them.

Again, a huge thank you to Gerrard Rothwell, Headteacher of Lyndon Green Junior School, for his planning and attention to detail organising the smooth running of today’s lessons and twilight. AND to ALL of the staff and children who made our “first day back at school” such an enjoyable time.

A super second day, as I usually teach outdoors it was great fun to work alongside the children for the day. I was really impressed with the Year 3’s writing and responses throughout the afternoon. They were full of imaginative and creative ideas. The only shame is not to get to follow up the work with the class tomorrow.
But plans are afoot to get blogging going so hopefully we’ll be able to share some of our amazing writing with a wider audience. Thank you both for two inspiring days.
