Essendine Primary School, City of Westminster, London ~ Day 2

| September 3, 2013 | 2 Comments

Following our day of lessons back in June of this year, it is great to be back in London, with the staff at Essendine Primary School developing a plethora of ways to use technology to motivate and inspire.

Essendine is a great school, with an eye on powerful learning experiences. Their curriculum is designed to offer many opportunities to investigate and question.

We were joined by colleagues from St Clement Danes Primary School. Located in the heart of Covent Garden, St Clement Danes is “a dynamic Church of England Primary School with a distinguished history and an exciting future”.

A huge thank you, again, to Diane Buckle, headteacher, and Lyndsy Killip, Lower Key Stage 2 coordinator, for organising our visit. Lyndsy says:

Essendine Primary School has invested lots in ICT equipment over the years, with all this investment we should have been singing and dancing. Although some were passionate about the use of ICT a lot of equipment was stuffed in all the nooks and crannies throughout the school and hence we have not had the opportunity to transform our learning!

Through delving into the deepest darkest cupboards we have unearthed lots of exciting equipment which we need a push in the right direction to use it to its full potential.

Although beginning to build the foundations, we are now fortunate enough to have an inspired head teacher and ICT team who want us to embed the use of ICT throughout the curriculum. With the help of someone inspiring we want to unlock the creativeness of all our staff and make learning as exciting as possible for all.

It was that cross over, where excitement meets chances for extended learning, that we explored today. Fascination is a tool that can be easily neglected. This digital world, when mixed with the analogue, brings such potential for communication. Technology is not the only answer… but, it does open up some remarkable opportunities, to develop teaching and learning styles. Well done all.
