The British International School, Budapest ~ Day 3

| September 27, 2013 | 4 Comments

Following two fun days of lessons, at The British International School, Budapest, today we had a full on, and fizzing, day of digital training, with the staff from across the school.

The British International School Budapest, with its moto ‘Helping others to be the best they can be’, is renowned for its high educational standards and caring learning environment, ensuring high academic principles are met while developing students’ life skills through a range of extra curricular activities. It is housed in a new, purpose-built facility in the heart of Budapest’s leafy 3rd district with around 460 students. Approximately 25% are English native speakers and another 25% Hungarian. A further 62 nationalities make up the other 50%.

The school is a Nord Anglia Education school. Nord Anglia provides innovative education, training and guidance for children and young adults.

Founded in 1972, it has experience of managing schools and working with governments to raise standards and improve educational achievement. They have been operating international schools since 1992. They have kindergartens through to the end of secondary, or K-12, schools in eight cities worldwide, teaching over 8,000 students.

Most of their schools follow a curriculum based on the National Curriculum of England, adapted country by country to meet local culture and local conditions. And, that’s where the value comes. It is about the needs of the children.

This has been a precious visit, in that we have met some remarkable people who value the attributes, and characteristics, of the people they teach, and work with, in very understanding ways.

To know the aspects that make a person how they are, and cherish those elements, is an invaluable skill.

It has been an honour to spend such humour, and thought, filled times with the members of the BISB community, for the last three days.

What a unique experience it was, to make our way through The Feedback Tunnel, a human corridor of thoughts, kind words, and ideas.

A huge THANK YOU to Hazel, her colleagues, & children, for a wonderful opportunity to share in magical moments of laughter & learning. Well done all.

I attended the BISB Tim Rylands’ seminar, I have found that the day has opened opportunities that I thought, and didn’t appreciate before today. Thank you very much for an educating and surprisingly enjoyable time.

“Shall we go for a walk? Shall we? Shall we? One more….

We were lured and enticed by eyebrows and delicious words. For three days the studio hummed whilst three hundred students and staff were in thrall and eager to walk and talk and laugh and write. Can training really be this much fun? We became a learning community so very quickly joined by our thirst for visual literacy.

‘It is a long ago secret already…..from a tme when princesses were rescued’ Year 2 boy. The eloquence continued and I admit to surprise when Year 2 Emily was able able to take part, wholehearedly, in a balanced argument. There was a pregnant pause and then off she launched with such panache and clarity. The space was there for her and the other students to fill…and they did-You had to be there.

An abundance of riches, from Tim and Sarah, brought out in the children and Staff. An amazing three days of learning and possibilities.

    Thank you so very much.

I want all schools to have this experience.

    Thank YOU you star lady
This was such an amazingly well organised visit, without it feeling at all regimented! Smooth flowing, laughter filled, and joyous.
You have a right to be VERY proud of your children and colleagues.
We would love to work alongside ALL schools, as you suggest, but would love it if you could oversee all our trips so they are as fun as our Budapest Bonananza!
    Thank you so much Hazel
Keep in touch an let us know how things go 😀
