More Myst (like) magic… if the money is made

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the launch of Myst, one of the best-selling computer games in history. “Amazingly immersive worlds where the point is to understand your environment rather than test your reflexes”.

The creators of the legendary adventure game, are seeking cash for a new game via Kickstarter.

Rand Miller, and Cyan Worlds, have a proven history of delivering visually stunning environments that immerse players in the games. Obduction will be built using Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 4. Epic Citadel was an early glimpse in to the possibilities of one Unreal Engine.

Cyan is looking for $1.1m (£679,000) from the crowdfunding site to develop a game called Obduction.

Ob`duc´tion, n.1. The act of drawing or laying over, as a covering.

On its Kickstarter page, Cyan said Obduction would continue with the amazing traditions of the Myst games, but with updates to take advantage of the power of modern computers.

If Cyan reaches its funding target it plans to release PC and Mac versions of Obduction in mid-2015.

Fingers crossed then, and pockets patted. There are just 28 days until the Kickstarter time is up…

Having been blessed to spend some time with the Cyan Team, in Spokane, and to experience the passion that Rand has for creating stunning, immersive worlds, and then to live so much of our lives entwined with these incredible landscapes, we wish them all the best making Obduction (un)REAL.
