Hampshire Conference

HCCA great day, alongside 130 delegates, from primary schools, one secondary school and four special schools, from across Hampshire.

Today, we explored the range of technology, and approaches to using it, that are essential across the curriculum. Sue Savory, ICT Adviser, for sharing her thoughts below:

Sue SavoryStill an “ICT” Conference, with the new Computing programme of study? Are we ignoring the new programme of study in Computing; absolutely not. I believe that, if you understand the pedagogy behind using technology within learning, the computing element is just more of what you do well. Taught well, this can be inspirational, as well as creative, and develop resilient and independent learners.

Therefore, we have been looking forward to welcoming Tim, and Sarah, to our annual ICT Conference today. After talking to Tim, enjoying today, reading his website and listening to others who have experienced his training, I know we will now further understand how to use technology as an inspirational and pedagogical tool. Some of what we will be doing, will be using gaming, to promote learning, as well as technology to support literacy and creativity.

I know that this will provide a greater understanding of how to deliver all elements of the programme of study, including computer science and digital literacy, but, more importantly, provide us with a greater understanding of how children learn.
