CuriosityGadwin Printkey is an easy to use utility that allows you to capture any portion of the screen, save it to a file, copy it to your clipboard, or both. See this helpsheet on setting up Gadwin. (Scroll down their page to find the Gadwin PrintScreen free download option). Try out Duck Capture (also free) for your Mac.

Spicynodes, allows you to add pieces of information and embed images and youtube videos to a spider-diagram.

Crazytalk is the facial animation and lip-sync software, as is Morfo on iPads.

Panoramas.dk a glorious collection of landscapes. Panoramas are a fantastic way of immersing children (or yourself) in a different location, and a superb tool for stimulating discussion in children of all ages, and abilities.

CleVR provides a suite of online tools for creating and sharing panoramic photos.

The CleVR Stitcher is a free Adobe AIR application that will automatically stitch photos into a panorama.

We can also recommend the excellent Arounder, for a collection of panoramas from locations around the world and 360 Cities.

Get-out-more-often-300x225Google Street View Stereographic. This joyous gem makes your very own, free, explorable, mini planets!

Visit your location, in StreetView Stereographic, & then learn to fly, as it is possible to move around within your world.

A picture is worth a thousand words” and ThingLink helps you tell your stories, because images can come alive with connections to music, video, photographs, text, and more! Create interactive scenes. Build, share, & discover.

Lunapic is well worth a deeper investigation than just the first page. It is a very easy to use image manipulator. Both fun and useful.

There are many, many different effects that you can add to your image.

And the “coloured in” fireworks were brought to life using ColAR Mix app.

PhotoSynth offers two styles for creating immersive 3D experiences: synths and panoramas…

To make synths, just install the Photosynth application. The Photosynth app is available now for iOS in the iTunes App Store.

Soundation is a most impressive online digital music machine that has huge potential. The FREE version allows a lot (except you can’t save or mix down your end results).

Ambient Mixer makes it possible to listen to free audio atmospheres, or mix your own ambient sounds online.

Affinity-beyond-300x225With the sound board site you could create a calming sonic atmosphere within your classroom. Mix the relative levels, and panned position, of different sounds, from a choice of birdsong, bonfire, creek, crickets, gulls, ocean, rain, thunder, and wind chime sound effects, & music. Sound!

Audacity is free, open source, cross-platform software for recording and editing sounds, and Garageband comes free on Apple devices.
Dragon Dictation might be a good way to turn talk in to writing for real.

WILDlife-300x225With Nice Translator, you just start typing, and it automatically turns what you have written in to multiple languages, all in one go.

From Text To Speech is a free online Text To Speech (TTS) service with natural sounding voices. The voices aren’t quite as convincing as those in Ivona, great for its accents and languages) but, after you have converted your text, you can then save your phrses into MP3 audio file to play it on your computer or iPod ~a useful tool.

I do dog tricks to practise simple spellings and Teach Your Monster to Read to support the learning of synthetic phonics.

Quiet Tube to watch YouTube videos without the comments and adverts.

Firefox Video Download Helper, a tool that enables video download (you’ll need to think about copyright considerations)

Tagxedo brings a word-cloud alive. The layout of each cloud can be manipulated to a great level of detail: colour, shape, rotation and more.

Talk Typer is a great online speech to text tool, which works within the Google Chrome browser. It does need a little help with some punctuation and, like any speech recognition, can make some mistakes, but is a good free way to experiment with spoken-to-written word.

Pottery HD Lite, to throw virtual pots. iDough enables inventive creation.

Multimodal Writing Frames using PowerPoint

Now here is the clever stuff! Here are the helpsheets you have been looking for, for that nifty stuff Sarah showed you on using the hidden gems within PowerPoint. Download helpsheet for PowerPoint 2003 and  PowerPoint 2007  and PowerPoint 2010.

(PowerPoint 2013 very similar to 2010).

Zoom It is a desktop zoom, and annotation, tool and enables you to zoom your desktop, with your wheel mouse, or the up and down arrow keys on your keyboard. It is activated with a customizable keyboard shortcut. (PC only as Macs don’t need it as you can ctrl~ 2 finger zoom).

The Wii game Endless Ocean to explore underwater worlds and its creatures; Dear Esther, a ghost story, told using first-person gaming technologies. Fragments of story are randomly uncovered when exploring the various locations of the island, making every each journey a unique experience (Not free); Jules Verne’s Return to Mysterious Island, a game with a story of survival, determination, and mankind’s triumph against the challenges of nature (Not free); Epic Citadel, a peaceful medieval landscape, to wander through, on your iPad.
